Cutout from tarp
Alex Wolf creates contemporary art with cutouts. The multi-layered asymmetrical works are each created with a mix of transparent, opaque, matt or shiny colors. The delicate layers are suspended at the top, incline with gravity and thus develop a life of their own. Chaos collides in the acrylic cutouts on truck tarpaulin. These works of art become objects through layering and sometimes weaving. She prefers to use tarp instead of paper cause of its durability.
Cutting and reassembling of the original material is based on the destructive act, which is followed by a slow process of finding images in the gradual arrangement of different layers. The work is based on random and impulsive reactions. The process of creation is about the relationship between intuitive and conscious artistic decision, as well as playing with harmony and dissonance in the color scheme.
